Gardening in POTS

I have a large area devoted to veggie growing - half is in the shade of the neighbours trees ;-( and the other half only receives a few hours of direct sunlight. Not the greatest spot, but I try to make do. This year it's been ANTS & BUNNIES.....I have chicken wire around the main veg area, but the ants have stripped down many of my plants. They haven't touched the squash or potatoes, so fingers crossed  I'll be harvesting those later in the season. I've              ly lettuce, celery, several tomatoes and a zucchini plant in pots and they are living on the back deck. Bunnies - beware!!

I just gave up trying to type.....freaking blogger....later

Mrs Cardinal

We always visit our local gardens and this time I remember to bring some bird seed ~ didn't take long before Mrs. Cardinal flew in for a quick snack.
This lovely building belongs to the gardens and stores all their gardening equipment and bedding plants during the planting season.
Mrs. Bunny under my hosta plant ~ not sure what she was nibbling at, but she has been eating the leaves on my Black-eyed Susans and Live forever plants. Bad bunny!!!

Destashing ~ Crochet Grannies

Granny Squares that is! Came across a lovely picture in a blog & I knew right away I wanted to make something similar. Since I have oodles of odds & ends in the yarn department, a perfect way to finally destash. Hopefully, I'll be able to achieve the same look with the colours I have. No buying....just using up.
I"ll be back with the bloggers site address. As usual, I've saved it ~ but can't locate it at the moment. I do want to give her credit for her lovely crocheting.

I have been joining the squares together on the last row of crochet, but I'm just not loving it. The end result will likely see me crocheting them together on the top of the squares. I've seen some lovely afghans finished that way - crocheting across the squares 1st, then lengthwise.....very pretty.
Funny, just under the top right basket handle is a blurry bunny. Late afternoon and he/she was out under the bird feeders enjoying the bird food and leaving me fertile bunny poo!!
There are usually two bunnies out & about during the evening hours and I believe they are the same sex as they don't get along at all.....rather funny to watch them.

Orca Bay

As of Thursday May 31, 2012 ~ I added another 2 rows. I'm still short regarding the red triangles and can't get into the mood to make more - BOO!!!
While out weeding in the garden this afternoon, Mr Bunny ( or Mrs) came out to feed under the birdfeeders. And the picture below is from a local empty lot several streets away ~ not sure who has started up the gardening plots, but it was nice to see the empty lot being put to good use. We did a nosy around to see what everyone was planting. Hopefully the wild bunnies won't wreck havoc on these plots as they are not fenced in. And we have lots of wild bunnies.....!
